History of Somerset County

A Central New Jersey Hub, Somerset County is one of America’s oldest counties and encompasses 305 square miles of beautiful landscape, bustling businesses, and 21 municipalities.  Established on May 22, 1688, it is full of beautiful historic counties and a rich heritage dating back to the Revolutionary War. Many of its towns are historic landmarks or hold monuments honoring their American history.

Closer to the big city, Somerset county is known for its suburban and urban balance, offering a mixture of public parks and recreational facilities as well as bustling businesses and metropolitan public transportation.  Golf courses, hiking, bicycles, picnic areas, places to swim,  fairgrounds and education centers are just some of the many ways visitors and residents entertain themselves.

Units going under contract averaged 47 days on the market. Three hundred fifty-nine units went "under contract" in February, up slightly from 335 in the prior month. Newly listed properties in the same period totaled 207, down slightly from 217 in the preceding month. Our total inventory number decreased from 1.019 this time last year to 452 units, 56% less than last year.
